They assist us with our equipment layout and crown line controller, as public relations director, traffic cop and social director. And of course, they handle the all important part of finding the balloon when it has landed. Earn Free Flights Tennessee Balloon Rides is always looking for crew people. For every five flights, you’ll earn a gift certificate for a 1-hour ride. You can take the ride yourself, or give the gift certificate to someone else. Or, if you’re interested in becoming a pilot, you can trade crew time for flight instruction. You must be physically fit and willing to work. We prefer crew members to possess a valid driver’s license and be over 18 years of age. Being a crew person involves heavy lifting and occasional running. Nothing makes a pilot happier than having his crew running up to catch the balloon at landing. A crew chief that has this mastered is concidered Top Gun the best of the best.
